SNEAK ATTACK
The boar's turned himself around. You can see the tip of his nose and his ear just to the right of the tree trunk.

He's planning his next move, and the dogs are catching a few breaths.

Dogs don't plan a strategy. They react to the boar's moves, so that they keep him in place.
Here's some serious gamesmanship: the boar is starting a lunge toward the relaxing dogs...hoping to get lucky and catch them off guard...
...and here he got a sudden faceful of snarling dogs that made him put on the brakes!

Measuring against the trees, you can see that his whole body's moved forward except his head (his back end's moved forward from behind the tree.)

AND look how fast the dogs have snapped to!
